“Intensely addictive …there’s so much intensity in this story that it was crackling the pages, reverberating through my body and sucking me in.”
~ Under the Covers
This is such a sad place to be. The end of a series that I’ve loved so much. We’ve met basically two groups of people that I’ve come to care for, and HEARTS ON AIR is the last of the Cross siblings. We know all about their bad boy days and we’ve seen them all reform with the love of a good woman. Trevor had this strong friendship with Reya for years and we’ve seen only glimpses and teases. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this best friends to lovers story and Ms. Cosway didn’t disappoint.
Trevor is young and has had a previous history of stealing cars. He’s that good boy who had to act at being a bad boy because that was the hand he was dealt with. Now his love of something else that got him in trouble, parkour, is what changes his life. Him and his friends finally get a TV deal for a parkour show and he’s propelled to stardom. That also changes other aspects of his life because with the show he also gets a diagnosis of ADHD, and he loses the woman he loves.
HEARTS ON AIR was simply intensely addictive. Although this book wasn’t necessarily what I expected, one thing is for sure … there’s so much intensity in this story that it was crackling the pages, reverberating through my body and sucking me in. Trevor quite frankly could make me hold my breath in anticipation, get squirmy the next, and melt in a puddle in the end. To say I was on the edge of my seat waiting for his next move is an understatement. Broken book boyfriend material right there.
While I didn’t find Reya as fascinating as other heroines that Ms. Cosway has written, she was a great complement for Trevor. I loved her interactions with Trevor and how she really couldn’t fight him as she thought she should to protect her heart. I think her personal issues were worked out a bit too easy for my liking in the end. And her acceptance of Trevor, although I could see that she should, I couldn’t quite get the mechanics of how it would all work out after. I may have also needed more in terms of how Trevor would deal with ADHD on a daily basis going forward. I wish that aspect of the illness was explained a bit more.
While the chemistry between this couple was great, and the romance sucked me in, I really love how the author brings the series to a nice end. Tied maybe with a cute little bow. We get to see everyone again and I was sooo happy for that! While this book closes out the series perfectly, it also introduces the new characters for the spin off so I’m left dying for the next book which open that new series.
If there is one thing I know I can always trust when I crack open an L.H. Cosway book is that it’ll be an original story, with unique characters that feel very real in their issues and interactions. Friendship and family usually play a big part in that. HEARTS ON AIR was that and after this, I can’t wait for more.
