“MELTING THE ICE delivered everything I’ve come to expect in a Jaci Burton book, especially one from this series.  It was sweet and sexy, with a hero to die for!” ~Under the Covers

Writing a sports series, I would imagine it has to get harder to write original stories.  You gotta keep the characters interesting and always changing.  And since in this case our heroes are all sports stars, a lot of that is having the perfect heroine to spice things up.  That always keeps me interested in this series.  I am always excited to see what the next heroine will bring next!

In this case, we met both Drew and Carolina in the previous book.  Carolina is Grey’s sister (from the previous book).  She’s also the now Vice President’s daughter, and a fashion designer trying to launch her own line during New York Fashion Week.  She’s independent and determined and she wants to succeed at her job not because of who her father is, but on her own merits.  She doesn’t want people to think that she’s another rich girl trying out fashion design as a hobby.

Drew is her brother’s best friend and a hockey player.  Be still my fluttering heart, that’s a killer combination!  I love the trope of best friends sibling and add to that the fact that Drew and Carolina did have a little history while in college and this setup had everything I normally go for!  I did mention the sexy hockey player angle, right?

Since she’s launching her line, she gets her brother and Drew to model for her.  Lucky girl!  Neither one of them are looking for a relationship, Carolina is just looking to let off some steam.  Drew might be looking for something a little deeper, but he may not know or understand it right away.  The slow dating, the friendship and connection that built throughout the first part of the book was great.  I can appreciate that their story wasn’t rushed and that they really got to know one another better after years not interacting with each other.

MELTING THE ICE delivered everything I’ve come to expect in a Jaci Burton book, especially one from this series.  It was sweet and sexy, with a hero to die for!  Ms. Burton manages to brings us into the fold of these families and come to care about the characters as if we were really there.  That was my favorite part about this book.  I love Carolina and Drew!  I felt an immediate connection with them as if they were real people, that I’ve known forever.

But just as much as I love them, I CANNOT WAIT for the next couple.  I have a feeling I’m going to die for Trevor!
