“A book containing quirky humour and a dirty minded hero is always going to be enjoyable; however, I expected something, more?” ~ Under the Covers

By day Annie Catrel is a recluse, a social media whizz who can make even the most despicable celebrities look like saints, all from the safety of her apartment. However, Annie is also has a secret identity…the Socialmedialite her online persona and the creator of the extremely popular blog New York’s Finest. Ronan Fitzpatrick is a the best hooker out there, on the rugby field he can do no wrong, it is life outside the field and the court of popular opinion he seems to struggle with. When he is sent to polish up his public persona, who better than Annie the social media guru to assist him…especially when Ronan can’t seem to take his eyes off her, and his dirty mind from fantasising about her…

I thought it was only in Historical Romances that people have conniptions… but apparently that isn’t true, when I heard that Cosway and Reid were writing a book together, I believe my reaction closely resembled a matching making mama who just realised her formerly plain/mousey daughter has managed to land the most eligible Duke in the ton. I was a tiny bit excited.

Which, is why I am a tad…disappointed! And it isn’t because I didn’t enjoy The Hooker and the Hermit because I did. A book containing quirky humour and a dirty minded hero is always going to be enjoyable; however, I expected something, more? Because, although I did like this, I laughed in the appropriate places, sighed lustfully in others, what it didn’t do was knock me socks off. Maybe I have been spoiled and I am to used to Reid and Cosway wowing me, Reid’s Knitting in the City series has never failed to make me fall in love and Cosway’s books always leave me contemplating the twist and turns the book has taken me. Maybe, The Hooker and the Hermit was just too conventional for what I was expecting.

However, although I was a little let down by this book, I think this is because my expectations were sky high, and it didn’t quite make it. But, if you want something with a sexy Irish hero, who has some deliciously filthy thoughts and a funny heroine, this is something you need to pick up and give a go.

  1. i’m often nervous when authors collaborate because sometimes the finished product ends up being less than what was expected…
