Leah Sullivan is as sweet as her baked goods. However, life hasnโ€™t been too kind to her lately. She has dropped out of pastry school and messed up her big chance on a reality cooking show. So returning to Lucky Harbor seems like for the best. There she sees Jack Harper, her long-time best friend and learns that his motherโ€™s health is slowly deteriorating. In a desperate attempt to bring some happiness back into her life, she tells a little white lie that soon becomes a full-blown passion.

When Jack learns that Leah told her mother that she and him were dating, his mother is over the moon. Itโ€™s the first time in a long time that sheโ€™s truly been joyful. Not wanting to spoil that for her, he goes along with the fib, but also makes sure Leah pays for the little lie. As they pretend to be dating, the sparks they long denied each other come blasting to life once again.

In a charmingly sweet friends-to-lovers story, Shalvis gives the sexy Jack a chance at finding true happiness. He just needs to realize that that source of bliss is only one step away. A lot of this book builds on the sexual tension between Jack and Leah. There were times when I wanted to slap Jack across the head simply because it took him so long to see the good in Leah, but once it happened, I was thrilled for them. Always on my Mind is charmingly sweet!

Shalvis also brings back all my favorite characters in a series of walk-on appearances. This ALWAYS brings a smile to my face. I feel like itโ€™s an extra little treat for her readers.

But there is also one thing that I absolutely loved about this book and that is BEN! BEN, OMG I AM CLAIMING YOU ALREADY. Ben is hilarious. Ben is mysterious. Ben is the dream man. And I want him. His appearances in this book either intrigued me or made me laugh. I cannot wait to see what Shalvis has in store for him and Audrey. Itโ€™s sure going to be a great one. I can feel it in my bones!
